Parent Teacher Club Activities
Scholastic Book Fair- The Book Fair is held the second week of school at bothschools.Students shop with their classes during the week and are able to purchase books, posters, and various fun items which promote reading! Parents are encouraged to shop our Back to School Night on Thursday and anytime during the week. The proceeds earned from this are used to purchase books for both libraries from the Scholastic Warehouse.
Membership Drive- The PTC Membership Drive is held in August. We encourage parents, family members, and teachers to join and get involved with the various activities throughout the school year.
Red Ribbon Week- This event kicks up in October and runs one full week. RBE &RBG wants to promote a healthy, drug free lifestyle. Different daily themes are chosen with drug free slogans to encourage our students to support this lifestyle.
Fall Carnival- The Fall Carnival is usually during the last week of October. Families can enjoy a variety of game booths, hay rides, cake walk and more!! Some tasty treats include Mr. Unruh’s famous corn dogs, kettle corn, snack bar, plus a dinner menu. A basket raffle is run by the 6th grade to raise funds for Camp Keep. This year we are adding our Cow Chip Bingo to carnival night, if you pick the right square where the cow does his business you will win the 50/50 raffle. Tickets will be sold weeks prior to the event as well as carnival night.
Santa’s Secret Shop- This event really gets the students and teachers in the spirit of the holiday season!! Students are able to buy special gifts for family and friends. Grades K-6th students will shop with their classrooms and Jr. High are able to shop at lunch recess.
Spring Fundraiser- Usually in February or March the PTC sponsors a fundraiser, sometimes more than one. In the past we have done Sees candy and Square 1 Art. This is a very busy time for the PTC and any extra help is appreciated.
RBG Career Day- Students are given the opportunity to learn about different career choices from experienced professionals during a brief presentation. Career is held in March.
RBE Celebrity Reader Week- Local celebrities visit the school and read to the classrooms and interact with the students. This event is also held in March or April.
Spring Flower Show- One of our longest traditions at Rio Bravo, students is able to show off their talents at arranging flowers. Flowers and containers are brought to school by the students and arranged in class. Ribbons are given to all entries and displayed that evening at the Spring Fling held in May.
Teacher & Staff Appreciation- A special week in May to honor our Teachers and Staff for their hard work and dedication. Students are encouraged to show their teachers how much they appreciate them.
Yearbook- PTC assembles and coordinates the sale of the yearbook for RBG & RBE. We need your help in making the yearbook a success by taking pictures of different activities and students throughout the year. Pictures for the book are contributed by parents.
Pennies for Patients- Just a small way to give to a charity that needs it. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This event runs for one week collecting different denominations daily from pennies the first day to dollars the last. The class who collects the most gets a pizza party.
