Rio Bravo-Greeley is located approximately 12 miles west of Bakersfield, California, at the intersection of State Route 43 and Kratzmeyer Road in an area that is predominantly farmland and oil related businesses. In recent years, new residential development has begun to push into our district boundaries. The school district has a long tradition of educational excellence, which was established 115 years ago.
There are two schools which contain grades K-4 and 5-8 with self-contained classes at the 5th grade and a middle school format for grades 6-8.
Rio Bravo-Greeley Union School District celebrated its centennial anniversary in 1991. For most of those first one hundred years RBG was a small rural farm community between Bakersfield and Buttonwillow where very little ever changed. In recent years, however, change has become the norm. Suburban development in the Rosedale area has slowly but surely moved into the Rio Bravo-Greeley School District creating new challenges for the district, its staff and its students.
There is a long tradition of excellence in every aspect of the school's programs and maintaining this excellence in the midst of rapid growth has stretched the district's collective creativity. The school's extraordinary facilities have always been a key ingredient to the outstanding programs offered to the students of RBG. A swimming pool, gymnasium, and auditorium have enabled the staff at RBG to offer wonderful school experiences to all students.
Rio Bravo-Greeley School District is experiencing steady growth in almost every area of the school's experience. An outstanding and dedicated staff is responding to this growth with a school program that is exciting and challenging. RBG truly is a great place to grow!
