6th Grade Math

HW Format

  • Each HW assignment needs to have an Answer Column on the right side of the paper.
  • Each HW assignment must also have the steps to the exercise worked out on the left side of the paper.

An example of the HW Format can be found by clicking on the PDF document below. (It's HW #32.)

Number the exercises in order on the left side, as you go. Do not pre-number them, because you may need more than 1 line for an exercise. If you get stuck on an exercise, and need to move on, anticipate how much space you may need, and leave enough room to come back and complete it later. Do not put more than 1 exercise on a line; however, exercises may take more than 1 line.

Put a box around your answer on this left “Work & Answers” side. Then write the answer on the right in the “Answer Column” side, if the answer can fit in the space. If the answer is long and won’t fit in the “Answer Column”, then write “<- see work”, so I know to look on the left side for your answer. If you forget to write that, I may think that you don’t have an answer for that exercise.

Please show all your scratch work on this left side, in order of the exercises, if you needed paper and pencil to work it out. If you did it all in your head, please write the answer on both the left & right sides (the “Work & Answers” side and “Answer Column” side). I have a good idea which exercises can be done mentally, so if in doubt, write something out.

Your homework may be several pages long, but your “Answer Column” will always be single-spaced, starting on the top right side of the 1st page of your HW.
